INCREDIBLE, rare Georgian rose gold brooch with an masterfully crafted rose tree made of human hair and accented with seed pearls. A very, very scarce design that I promise will take your breath away. Late 18th / early 19th century piece.

Behind a casing of rock crystal, delicate branches and weeping buds are carefully painted in sepia with tiny bits of hair, right down to the teeny tiny thorns. Three large 3-D roses made from snipped sections of hair bloom forth with centers made of extremely tiny seed pearls. A few of the buds on the tree are also accented with pearls.

CONDITION

Brooch is in great condition; there is a Y-shaped crack on the background of the piece but does not detract from its beauty, and is only noticeable up close. The hairwork is incredibly vivid and intact. There is a small scratch on the surface of the rock crystal but is also not noticeable. The brooch pin is slightly bent but secure and fully functional. 

High-carat rose gold, approximately 9 carat; has not been tested. 

Measures 3.5 x 2 cm, and weighs 5 grams.
