The Lady and the Unicorn - 1920s Tapestry Purse
Beautifully made 1920s needlework purse, featuring the famous tapestry "Sight," one of six tapestries from "The Lady and the Unicorn" series, made in France around 1500. The back features two unicorns under a tree, making this a great reversible piece!
It looks to me like it is embroidered in pearl cotton, with a braided strap of metallic, silk, and cotton threads. The ornate brass frame is bejeweled with orange, purple, green, and blue glass, and has a kiss lock.
Satin lining in good condition with some light discoloration/wear. There are some threadbare areas on the purse, particularly on the front (see photos) but it does not detract in my opinion! Overall very good condition and well made. Definitely sturdy enough to be used and enjoyed.
9" tall, 7 1/2" at widest point. Strap is about a 5" drop.
